I thought I would do a little post to recap my Thanksgiving Day festivities!
I started the day out EARLY with the Dallas Turkey Trot. I got my mom, dad, and my sister to run it with me so I wouldn’t be going out there all alone. My legs were shot from running 18 miles Sunday, 12 Monday, 15 Tuesday, and 16 Wednesday so there was no way I was racing. I am honestly surprised I was able to slog out 8 miles
Pre Race Family Picture
It was actually pretty cold. We look happy, but we kind of wanted to be asleep in bed still!
My parents ran the 5k and I was so proud that they ran the whole time without walking. They have both started exercise routines lately and they have been sticking to it.
My sister and I ran the 8 mile race and we ran together. She is a little slower than me, but I wanted to run it with her to keep her going and help her with her training for the White Rock Half Marathon this month. She has gotten up to a 10 mile long run, so I think she is ready. She handled the 8 mile race really well and we finished with an average pace of about 9:46, which is right at her training pace. It was a fun race and we had a great time together.
After the race, my sister headed to the airport to pick up her boyfriend who was flying in to spend Thanksgiving with us. He lives in Boston and flew all the way out here to join us. He is a pretty cool kid and we all had a great time.
I headed to the kitchen with my mom to start making our feast. I made…
Pumpkin Pie
Walnut Bread
That bread took me about 3 hours to make but it was DELICIOUS. I think it was the best bread I have ever made. We ate the whole loaf at dinner between 5 people
We also had a 19 pound turkey…
I was picking at it
All in all it was a great meal with great company. The rest of the night was spent relaxing and hitting the hay early.
How was everyone’s Thanksgiving?
