Junk Miles

Time: 2:00:38

Distance: 15.08 miles

Average Pace: 8:00 per mile

I’m going to be honest and tell you guys that I ran 15 miles because I want to win the Pile on the Miles challenge.

Did I want to run 15 miles? No.

Did I enjoy the 15 miles? Not really.

Will I run a lot tomorrow? Probably ;)

I woke up this morning after a great nights sleep and felt pretty refreshed. I had absolutely nothing to do today, so I decided to waste some time by running. I am lucky that I have class in the mornings, or I would probably run myself into the ground. I think I am doing pretty good though considering I haven’t had one of those “rest days” all month. I will probably take one on December 1 so I can have a month long streak. That would be wicked cool.

At the beginning of this post, I made this run seem like torture, but it really wasn’t. I had a great time out there today. I am not as stupid or reckless as I sound; I guess I am just adventurous. I wouldn’t run so many miles if my body wasn’t capable of handling them. Trust me on that one.

Despite the longer run, nothing too exciting took place. It was fairly standard in terms on pace, how I felt, ect… I never felt great, but I never felt horrible either. It was just somewhere in the middle. It felt good, but it wasn’t one of those “wow” runs. You know what I mean? Nothing hurt, but nothing felt amazing. Just a normal run. Not much else to say about it.

Tomorrow I have a longer run planned again and then I am heading home in the afternoon until Sunday for Thanksgiving. I haven’t been home in a long time so I am actually pretty excited. We don’t really have anything planned except for a lot of R&R. I think my parents are tired of working and I am tired of school so it is just going to be a relaxing trip. I’ll bring my camera and try to get some pictures for you guys. I am not really a big picture person, so we’ll see.

What are your Thanksgiving plans?

  • My idol. I ran 3 in cold bitter nasty winds w/ a dead ipod. Sigh it was plenty for me. Still training for that marathon though I am so excited for my first one!

I live at home and it’s here this year. I think it will be weird when I graduate next year and have to come home. I have no idea what I’ll do then!

R&R is perfect too bad I have a semester’s worth of work for a class I put off doing! Oops its Child Development stuff though so not too difficult ;)

  • Crazy. I’ve been logging 60 mpw and I thoguht I was running a lot.. you’re my running idol!

  • totally what my thoughts were when i banged out 10 miles and my legs weren’t happy. but dang yet again you best me :)

  • Great run! Even if you weren’t ‘feeling it’. I had an amazing run today – thank God – finally! The air was brisk…I had to break it up into two parts though…6 miles early day..and then another 6 after work…what’s your opinion on breaking it up…I could have kept going both times – which is so weird because before both of them I felt like crap, tired and sore. Surprising. Probably won’t run tommorow though haha! No Thanksgiving here in Canada – ours was in October – I’m jealous :) …I may just roast a turkey anyhow haha . Have a good time home – don’t let the parents get to you ;)

  • You’re too funny…I hope you win! I also hope you get some fantastic R&R for the holidays!

  • Haha, well i hope you win the contest, then!

    Have a great break!

  • Have a safe trip home! You should run home. I’m pretty sure that’d put you in untouchable first place for the challenge.

  • Have a Happy Thanksgiving. I’m running a 5k tomorrow morning, eating lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, and taking a mini-vacation to Minneapolis Friday-Sunday.

  • I hear you. I had a run like that this morning … just kind of grinding along. Not really loving it, but not really hating it either.

  • hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving!!!
